When she was writing about historical romance, her romance with her husband was the base for her books. She then shifted her theme to historical romance and focused her theme on that genre. But the publishing agents did not accept her writings. This award gave her more confidence in writing. She took part in a writing contest and stood third, and got the award. This academy helped her to continue writing romantic novels.
After her modeling stint, Shana took an academic degree in drama. This passion developed in her, as she was fond of reading romantic creations.
